Acupuncture

In China Acupuncture has been the primary form of healthcare for the last 5,000 years. It is used extensively for a variety of medical purposes ranging from the prevention and treatment of disease, to relieving pain. As in many oriental medicine practices, the emphasis of acupuncture is on prevention where possible.

How does it work?
Imagine a network of railway lines running through the human body with railway stations. When an acupuncture needle is placed in one of these stations a signal travels along the railway line (meridian) to the central station (the brain). In turn the brain is stimulated to produce its chemicals more efficiently, which then stimulate relevant organs. It is an amazing therapy.

  • Acupuncture helps to stimulate the body’s own chemical factory and re-balance the various body systems.
  • Acupuncture is of enormous help calming the nervous system.
  • Acupuncture is excellent at helping the hormonal system re-balance.
  • Acupuncture really helps relieve inflamed, painful joints and overworked muscles.
  • Acupuncture is gentle and usually pain free.

Examples of Conditions, which may be helped by Acupuncture:

Arthritis e.g. knees, ankles, hips, back, shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers. Bunions.

Migraines/headaches, shingles, sinusitis, trigeminal neuralgia.
Hormone/menopausal imbalances.

Asthma/hay fever, sinusitis.

During pregnancy for relief of back pain or to aid relaxation.

NB. In young children we can stimulate acupuncture points rubbing them.
There is virtually no limit to acupuncture’s therapeutic uses; it can be used in virtually every medical complaint, and its effects frequently appear to be particularly enhanced when combined with herbal medicine.
